Episode 014: Chickens, Burros, and Horses

This episode marks the start of a long-term project. We are working on improving a three-acre pasture located on our property. We cover a whole host of topics in this episode including dealing with invasive species, wind breaks, snow catches, managed grazing, progression cycles, fertilizers, tree establishment, and ancient stone walls. I try to bring this all around to apply to you no matter how large or small of a property you’re dealing with.

We also really start to dive into raising free-range poultry. If you’ve ever thought about raising your own chickens, this episode will help you get going down that road (even if you don’t have a large acreage).

The book that we talk about in this episode is “Pastured Poultry Profits” by Joel Salatin.
